Since there are many different types of vehicles, there are also many different types of vehicle information. Some of the most common types of vehicle information include: VIN number – The vehicle identification number (VIN) is a combination of 17 digits that uniquely identifies a vehicle. It contains digits from 2 to 9 and from A to J. It also contains a digit 0 and a digit 1. Brand – The make or brand is the marque or euipo on which the vehicle is manufactured. It can be alphabetic or numeric. Model – The model or series identifies the characteristics that differentiate one vehicle from another in the same range. Year – The year identifies the year in which the vehicle was manufactured, usually expressed as two digits from 1980 to present day. It may also have an additional third digit to indicate a modification in production time. Make – Make indicates the company that manufactured the vehicle, such as Ford, Honda, etc. Body – Body refers to the type of body style that the vehicle has, such as sedan, pickup truck, etc. Miles – Miles refers to the number of miles (or kilometers) that has traveled since being manufactured. Fuel – Fuel indicates what type of fuel is used by the vehicle, such as gasoline (also known as petrol), diesel, etc. Transmission – Transmission refers to how the vehicle’s power is delivered to its wheels, such as automatic or manual transmission. Doors – Doors indicates how many doors are on the vehicle, such as two or four doors. Engine – Engine refers to how much power the engine generates, such as 3 liters or 4 liters. Condition – Condition indicates the condition or wear of the vehicle, such as excellent or fair. Odometer reading – Odometer reading indicates the number of miles on one side of an axle or wheel, commonly known as “milers” or kilometers. Salvage title – Salvage title indicates that a title was issued when a known incident occurred before sale with no disclosure required by law.
