What is this API?
Air Quality Index API. This API will retrieve the current, historical, and forecasted Air Quality Index of any location in the world. The air quality index, or AQI, is an index that indicates the level of quality of a city’s air.
It measures six criteria: ozone concentration, particle pollution concentration, carbon monoxide concentration, nitrogen dioxide concentration, sulfur dioxide concentration and particle pollution (PM2.5). Air Quality Index API uses this information to find out what kind of pollution there is in the city and to assign it a value from 0 to 500. A value of 0 means that there is no pollution whereas a value of 500 means that there is extremely high levels of it. This index is used to determine how harmful the air you breathe is for your health and what steps you should take in order to protect yourself. It also provides valuable information on pollution levels so that we can better educate ourselves about our environment and work towards improving it in our cities as well as our homes.
Air Quality Index API: Current Location
First, you’ll need to create an account on Zyla Labs’ Platform where you can subscribe to their services. This can be done quickly and easily without any additional payments. After you submit your information and subscribe to their services, this API will give you two options; Current Location or Historical Location. To retrieve AQI data for your current location, simply choose “Current Location” as your option and select your city from the drop-down menu. If your city isn’t listed, you can simply fill in the blank with any other city in your country; this will work just as well!
The response will be provided in JSON format and it will contain current conditions information such as air quality levels (good, moderate or unhealthy), hours of maximum air quality (current time), maximum AQI level for current conditions (today) and forecasted maximum AQI levels (tomorrow; max 24h).
